The largest and final additions to an ongoing woven series — ’Hommage au Soleil de Varda’, Thea began exploring this technique of reassembling found weaving materials under the sun as a special project for the Varda Artists Residency. The original ‘CA Sun’ resides on the sundeck of the SS Vallejo.
A constant source of Californian Sun for your space. Sculptural wall hanging made from reworked found materials - handwoven raffia into bamboo baskets.
all works are handmade by process of editing, deconstructing and reconstructing obsolete materials.

Basketry, a universal weaving tradition celebrating simplicity and purpose. Form and function. This practice of basic weaving requires the working hands and has remained relatively unaffected by mechanical evolution.
Materials: Raffia sourced from obsolete raffia hatbands. Woven bamboo dishes found obsolete in abundance
Measurements: 75cm / Rays Length 60cm
Fastened at the back with 50cm woven raffia hanging band (best hung on three wall hooks or nails for extra support)
